About a month ago, WhatsApp officially introduced the companion mode for Android users. Companion mode lets you link up to five Android devices to a single account. Linking works like WhatsApp in web browsers, tablets und notebooks – each linked device connects to WhatsApp independently. This ensures that personal messages, media and calls remain end-to-end encrypted. Now the feature is also available for iOS users.

WhatsApp version 23.10.76 for iOS brings the new functionality to Apples iPhones now and is already available for download in the App Store. Just like Android, the iOS version of the messaging app syncs personal history and all messages are delivered to all of your devices. It also ensures that all conversations remain end-to-end encrypted, even on connected devices.
However, there are a few limitations. This includes features like messaging broadcast lists and status updates only being available on the main device. In addition, the new version now automatically plays GIFs in chats without having to tap on the image. In addition, WhatsApp for business on Android will soon have a status archiving function. The new feature was discovered in a beta version of the software. It allows business owners to archive specific status updates and reuse them in the future if needed.
