The vivo X90 series consists of three models so far – the X90, the X90 Pro and the X90 Pro+. Next up is the vivo X90S with the not-yet-announced MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset. The presentation is scheduled for May 10th. And in addition to a new tip, the vivo cell phone showed up in the Google Play Console.
The leak comes from the well-known tipster Digital Chat Station. Accordingly, the vivo X90S will get rather minor hardware updates. The only notable change will be the Dimensity 9200+ chip, which brings Wi-Fi 7 support along with an extremely fast 3.35 GHz Prime core. The 6.78-inch curved-sided OLED display with a resolution of 1260p remains unchanged.
The main camera is taken from the regular vivo X90, according to the tip, which would mean a 50-megapixel Sony IMX866 sensor. In addition, there is the in-house vivo V2 image sensor. The charging speed also remains unchanged at 120 watts. The move to the new Dimensity 9300 platform will only come with the vivo X100 series, which comes in November 2023. The battery capacity of the X90 was 4,810 mAh. When switching from the vivo X60 to the X60S, the new model also got a larger battery.
vivo X90S on Google Play Console
The Google Play Console confirmed that the vivo X90S comes with a MediaTek MT6985 chipset. Although this should be the Dimensity 9200+, the ARM Cortex-X3 Prime core only ran at a clock speed of 3.05 GHz. There were also three Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 2.85 GHz and four Cortex-A510 efficient cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. MediaTek installs an ARM Mali G715 as the GPU.
MediaTek’s upcoming chipset recently had a higher Geekbench score than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Therefore, there is some evidence that the Google Play Console shows either an incorrect clock frequency or a slower running pre-production device. The remaining technical data from the list confirm the 1,260 × 2,800 pixel display with a punchhole, 12 GB RAM and also Android 13.
