vivo X100 Ultra

The vivo X100 Ultra is here and offers one of the most powerful camera systems yet in a smartphone. In addition to a 1-inch main camera with Sony’s LYT-900 sensor, there is also a new 200-megapixel periscope camera with the 1/1.4-inch ISOCELL HP9 sensor developed together with Samsung. This makes it the telephoto camera with the largest sensor in a cell phone to date.

The equivalent focal length is 85 mm and the aperture is f/2.67. This gives the lens a 3.7x optical zoom and 20% higher light sensitivity and its telephoto macro mode offers 20x magnification. You also get industry-leading CIPA 4.5 telestabilization. As is usual with expensive vivo smartphones, a Zeiss T* coating and Zeiss APO certification are also installed for clearer images and fewer color fringes on contrast edges.

Added to this, after a development period of eight years, is vivo’s own BlueImage algorithm. It is designed to solve many of the most common photography problems. This includes light behind subjects as well as detailed and low-noise images in low light conditions. The vivo X100 Ultra also features the vivo V3+ imaging chip, which handles recording and processing of 4K portrait videos. The 50-megapixel main camera features a 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor with an aperture of f/1.75 and a focal length of 23mm. There is also a 14 mm ultra-wide-angle camera with 50 megapixels and a 1/2 inch LYT 600 sensor.

The rest of the specifications of the X100 Ultra are also top notch. Like the curved 6.78-inch E7 LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,440 x 3,200 pixels. The panel reaches a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and a refresh rate of 1-120 Hz. It also houses the 50 megapixel front camera and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
