The upcoming vivo X100 Ultra will be “a professional camera that can make calls“, according to a company executive. The Ultra is expected to debut alongside the X100s next month, completing vivo’s current flagship lineup. So far this consists of the basic model and the X100 Pro. As we get closer to the launch, the X100 Ultra has now reportedly surfaced in China with a 3C certification. The model number is V2366GA, at least according to well-known Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station.

There will apparently be two versions of the vivo X100 Ultra – the just-certified regular 5G model and a second version that will also have satellite connectivity. The latter has recently characterized more and more flagship smartphones for the Chinese market.

The vivo X100 Ultra will also support 80W wired charging, the aforementioned certification revealed. That’s less than the X100 and the X100 Pro. DCS also assumes a “large” battery, which sounds like a capacity of around 5,500 mAh.

vivo’s 2024 camera flagship will also bring Sony’s Lytia LYT-900 main camera sensor, as well as a 100mm periscope telephoto lens with 4.3x zoom and a resolution of 200 megapixels. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset is likely to power the device. Additionally, it will likely use vivo’s recently unveiled BlueImage imaging technology.

GSMArena also dug up some photos of the vivo X100s, which can be seen above. We’ve previously heard that vivo is introducing a new, flatter design, moving away from the curvy X100, and these photos confirm that. Our source also suggests a May launch for the X100s and X100 Ultra.

The vivo X100s features a flat frame with a textured surface and a slightly curved (2.5D) glass back panel. The camera island contains a knurled ring and four cameras. The camera system is seemingly unchanged from the

vivo has based the design of the X100s slightly on the Apple iPhone 15 Pro. It has a flat display and a similar color scheme, but is significantly thinner at 7.89 mm (8.3 mm for the iPhone). There are likely to be versions in white, black, cyan and titanium, as well as a Dimensity 9300+ chipset with a higher clocked Cortex-X4 main core at 3.4 GHz.

The vivo 100 started at CNY 3,999 (526 €/563 $) and we expect the X100s to cost about the same, undercutting its Apple competitor. Initially it only launched in China, but was launched worldwide at the end of 2023. The X100s is likely to follow a similar path, but the X100 Ultra will likely remain in China.
