vivo X100 Pro+: 200 MP telephoto camera with variable aperture

The vivo X100 Pro+ will bring three impressive cameras, according to a new leak from a Weibo tipster. The upcoming flagship should be launched in the fourth quarter and will have a 50 megapixel main camera with a 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor. The same chip is also used in the vivo X90 Pro+. However, we will likely see a variable aperture in the new model. The technology is already known from the Huawei P60 Pro and its f/1.4-f/4.0 main camera.

But that’s not all. Apparently, vivo also wants to break new ground in the telephoto range and install a 200 megapixel telephoto camera in the X100 Pro+. Such high resolutions are still extremely rare and normally only find their way into flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. But even there, such sensors only power the main cameras. A 200 megapixel telephoto camera in a smartphone would be a real first.

The portrait camera, on the other hand, will use a 50 megapixel sensor, like the main camera, namely the Sony IMX758. This is the same chip as in the vivo X90 Pro and X90 Pro+ with 2x optical zoom, autofocus and optical image stabilization.

vivo X100 Pro+ not to start before November

A Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which should start in November, could take over the drive. That means we won’t see the X100 Pro+ any sooner. In addition, we get the currently fastest storage technology – LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. According to the tip, the vivo phone is also waterproof and dustproof according to IP68. A large ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the display unlocks the phone.

The bottom line is that the vivo X100 Pro+ will most likely be an absolute camera flagship with the currently fastest chipset and an impressive display. Therefore, we can only hope for an international launch, which unfortunately has not happened since the vivo X80 Pro.
