The vivo X Fold 2 was rumored to arrive this month, and today the launch date was officially confirmed – April 20th. The foldable also has the company’s first foldable clamshell phone, the vivo X Flip, and the new tablet vivo Pad 2 in tow.

The event in China is all about flagship performance and large displays, according to vivo Vice President Huang Tao. According to some teasers, vivo will also unveil some sort of “3D imaging technology”. It could be similar to what ZTE showed off at February’s MWC with the nubia Pad 3D.

The vivo X Fold 2 should have a foldable 8.03-inch E6 AMOLED display on the inside and a 6.53-inch E6 AMOLED panel on the outside. Fingerprint sensors are said to sit under both screens, which would be a first in the world of foldables. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset takes over the drive.

The vivo X Flip, on the other hand, should have a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor under the hood. A 32-megapixel camera on the front shoots selfies. The main rear camera resolves 50 megapixels on a Sony IMX866 sensor while the lens has a Zeiss T* coating and optical image stabilization.

The vivo Pad 2 should be a larger version of the original vivo Pad with a 12.1 inch LCD display. A fast MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset sits at the helm. Together with a large 10,000 mAh battery, it should ensure a fairly long runtime.

Pricing and availability for the Chinese market will also be announced during the event. Information for the international market will probably not come. Neither the vivo X Fold 2 nor the X Flip or the Pad 2 will probably leave China.
