The second-gen X Fold brings improvements across the board with a revamped hinge mechanism, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, new cameras, and 120-watt fast charging. The X Flip is vivo’s first attempt on a clamshell foldable. In addition to a large 3-inch cover display, it also comes with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor and a 50-megapixel main camera.

The vivo X Fold 2 has an 8.03-inch E6 AMOLED display with a resolution of 2160 × 1916 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The panel has an aspect ratio of 4:3.55 and a new hinge system in droplet style. Compared to the first X Fold and last year’s X Fold+, it’s both lighter and more durable.

The AMOLED cover display has a size of 6.53 inches, a resolution of 2,520 × 1,080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Both panels have ultrasonic fingerprint sensors and 16-megapixel punchhole front cameras. In terms of dimensions, vivo X Fold 2 is 1.5mm thinner than its predecessor and over 30 grams lighter.

On the back of the vivo X Fold 2 there is a triple camera setup with a 50 megapixel main camera (Sony IMX866V) with OIS and a Zeiss T* coating. There’s also a 12-megapixel ultra-wide and a 12-megapixel 2x portrait lens that also offers up to 20x digital zoom. The camera system is supported by the V2 image chip developed by vivo itself. The V2 is said to improve HDR performance on images and videos and also offer better noise reduction. The X Fold 2 shoots videos at up to 8K at 30 fps, but not in Zeiss Cinematic mode.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset boots Android 13 with OriginOS 3, which offers several improvements for large displays. These include a taskbar for easy multitasking and a remote PC control feature. You can also adjust the user interface in certain apps by tilting the hinge. The 4,800 mAh battery charges with a cable with 120 watts and wirelessly with 50 watts.

The vivo X Fold 2 is available in two versions. 12/256GB is CNY 8,999 (€1,195/$1,308) and 12/512GB is CNY 9,999 (€1,328/$1,453).
