The vivo iQOO 12 series launches on November 7th and today the brand announced that the duo will feature a new design, a periscope camera for combined 100x zoom and a new iQOO Q1 gaming chip. Several press photos have also appeared. We already know that a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset will power the iQOO 12 Pro. But we don’t know whether this also applies to the basic model. The collaboration with BMW Motorsport will continue for this generation, as shown in the official teaser.

A vivo vice president of marketing, Jia Jingdong, also spoke out. According to Jia, iQOO’s roots lie in online gaming. And therefore iQOO smartphones are always designed with a focus on performance. vivo has developed the Q1 chip for the iQOO 12, which is supposed to support the gaming engine. However, vivo has not yet announced any specific details or functions.

However, the Q1 chip should provide “super image resolution” and an “ultra-high refresh rate”. The vivo iQOO 12 itself features a four-zone cooling system for longer gaming sessions. Jia also announced that the main camera of the top model will have a 1/1.3-inch sensor. The ultra-wide and telephoto cameras also get a significant upgrade.
The vivo iQOO 12 and iQOO 12 Pro will have slightly different designs. One will have flat sides while the other will have slightly curved edges. The white Legend version with the BMW M branding will have a glass back, but there is also a red leather version and a black variant with a sandstone-like look. The latter supposedly has a back made of Fluorite AG glass. Something similar marks the vivo V23 and V25. The black version can be seen above. The back doesn’t look like plastic, but it doesn’t look like a glass panel either.
Both phones will launch with OriginOS 4 in eight days.
