The Chinese manufacturer Tecno presented its first foldable today – the Tecno Phantom V Fold is here. At 299 g, it is one of the heavyweights even among foldable cell phones. In return you get a large display, a very large display and a large battery.
When closed, you still have a 6.42-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,550 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. When open, the Phantom V Fold unfolds its 7.85-inch LTPO main display with 2,000 pixels x 2,296 pixels and also 120 Hz. The panel is a lot larger than the display of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 (review), although not as large as the displays of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, the Magic Vs from Honor or the vivo X Fold+.
There are three cameras on the back of the Tecno Phantom V Fold. In addition to a 50 megapixel main camera, there is also a 50 megapixel zoom camera with double optical zoom and a 13 megapixel ultra wide camera. The selfie cameras have a resolution of 32 megapixels on the cover display and 16 megapixels on the main display.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ processor. This is a 4 Nm chipset, which can also be found in the Oppo Find N2 Flip. The performance matches the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor in the Galaxy Z Fold4. Power is supplied by a 5,000 mAh battery with 45 watts of fast wired charging, there is no wireless charging. According to Tecno, the charger reaches 40% battery level in 15 minutes and takes 55 minutes for a full charge.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold launches in the second quarter. First country to get it is India at a price of INR 89,999 ($1,099/€1,029) for the 12/256GB model. 12/512GB cost INR 99,999 ($1,222/€1,143). However, Tecno is offering a special earlybird deal starting at INR 79,999 ($979/€915).
