Tecno is just getting started with its phantom smartphones, but the young brand is already preparing to launch its first foldable smartphone at this year’s MWC. The device is called Tecno Phantom V Fold and has appeared in the rumor mill several times, including in a video. Now, an insider has shared some additional information on exactly what was in those leaks.

Tecno likes to develop things in-house, and that includes the hinge of the upcoming foldable. The Phantom V Fold features a “reverse snap structure,” a design said to improve the structural stability of the foldable phone. Aerospace-grade aluminum contributes to both durability and light weight.
The tipster also provided an official-looking image, which you can see on the top right. Three lenses sit in a circular camera module. There should be five lenses in total, so two selfie cameras inside and outside should be added. The focal lengths of these lenses and the resolutions of the sensors behind them are still unknown.
Tecno itself has already confirmed that a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset powers the Phantom V Fold, a slightly higher clocked version of the standard Dimensity 9000 with 5% more CPU and 10% more GPU power. The same processor also powers the Oppo Find N2 Flip, which started on a world tour two days ago.
If you are wondering where the first picture above comes from, you should watch this video. It shows the Phantom V Vision concept, a smartphone that you can both unfold and additionally unroll via a sliding mechanism. It is currently still unclear whether the Phantom V Vision will ever come onto the market. However, Tecno is holding its own event at MWC, which may shed some light.
