Sony Xperia 5 V is coming September 1st

Exactly one year after the debut of the Xperia 5 IV, the successor Sony Xperia 5 V is in the starting blocks in Japan. The smartphone is scheduled to launch on Friday, September 1st at 4:00 p.m. Japan time (7:00 a.m. UTC). As usual, the event will be broadcast live on YouTube.

The short trailer for the event focuses on the camera quality of the Sony cell phone for both day and night shots. Based on a leaked promotional video last month, the Xperia 5 V will feature a dual camera setup. The second camera is most likely an ultra-wide lens.

A Geekbench test had already revealed the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and up to 16 GB of RAM in February. The Xperia 5 V had the same configuration under the hood when it passed the certification of the Chinese 3C agency in April. In addition, the charging speed of 33 watts came to light. The performance should therefore be at the absolute top level, but the charging speed, typical for Sony, is far from it.

The Sony Xperia 5 V is the only model that is still missing for this year. Sony has already launched both the Xperia 1 V and the Xperia 10 V.
