After rolling out Android 13 for the Xperia 5 IV, Xperia 1 III, Xperia 5 III and Xperia Pro-I last month, Sony has now started to update Xperia 10 IV units. The Android 13 update for the mid-range device (build number 65.1.A.4.8) is currently being rolled out for the Asian dual SIM variant (model number XQ-CC72) in Southeast Asia. However, the rollout should soon reach other variants around the world.

Sony’s Android 13 release for the Xperia 10 IV brings all the new features that Google introduced with the platform upgrade. In addition, there is the slightly outdated Android security patch from December 2022. Those who have the Xperia 10 IV variant mentioned above should receive the OTA update notification for the stable version of Android 13 shortly. Before installing the new firmware, we recommend a backup copy of your own data and a battery level of at least 60%.

If you don’t want to wait for the OTA notification to appear, you can check for the update manually as usual. To do this, simply go to the software update section in the device settings and start the manual search. Alternatively, one can download the full firmware package from the Sony servers using the XperiFirm tool from XDA-Developers (source link). Then you can install it with the Flashtool (GUI) or the Newflasher (CUI).

Unfortunately, Xperia 10 IV owners in other regions may have to wait a few more days or even weeks for Android 13. Sony should open the rollout globally soon, but at the moment there is no definitive release schedule. Anyone who has already received the Android 13 update on their Sony Xperia 10 IV is welcome to share their experience with us in the comments.
