According to the latest rumor, supposedly coming from a sales representative, Sony will be looking to release its next flagship earlier in 2024. Apparently the Sony Xperia 1 VI will see the light of day at the Mobile World Congress. The event takes place in Barcelona at the end of February. This would mean the announcement is a good three months earlier than for the Xperia 1 V. The market launch of last years top xperia phone was even later at the end of July.

If true, the three major flagship phones with the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset will launch at a similar time. In addition to the Xperia 1 VI, this also includes the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra in January or February and the Xiaomi 14 Pro in December or January.
The other part of the rumor is that the Xperia 1 VI will have a zoom camera with 6x optical zoom and a large sensor. The equivalent focal length would therefore reach around 140 mm. That would be slightly higher than the 5x standard with a focal length of around 125 mm. The camera will also feature Sony’s Clear Image Zoom capabilities.
Finally, in keeping with Sony tradition, the Sony Xperia 1 VI will be shipped in sustainable packaging. This means that the box is made from recycled materials and does not contain a charger or other accessories.
