Sony Xperia 1 VI: New display without 4K resolution?

Sony could do without both the 4K resolution and the 21:9 form factor in the upcoming Sony Xperia 1 VI.
Sony Xperia 1 V vs Xperia 1 VI

Say what you will about Sony’s design language for its smartphones. But you can’t say it hasn’t been consistent in recent years. And apparently it will stay that way. The Sony Xperia 1 VI is rumored to continue the same way, but change two important things before it launches, probably in May.

Firstly, the Sony Xperia 1 VI will no longer have a display with a 4K resolution. Sony is the only company that has pushed 4K on smartphones. On the one hand, it simply doesn’t make any technical sense to squeeze such a high resolution into such a small space. It just increases power consumption. On the other hand, no other manufacturer installs 4K displays, but many still sell significantly better than the Japanese models.

The second point concerns the aspect ratio of the Sony Xperia 1 VI. Apparently the large 21:9 cinema format has to give way in favor of a 19.5:9 form factor. The panels will be shorter and wider than their predecessors, as you can see in the concept images above. This point was also primarily found on Sony cell phones and apparently didn’t work either. In addition, the RAM configurations for the Xperia 1 VI, Xperia 5 VI and Xperia 10 VI came to light a few days ago.
