Samsung SmartTag 2 is coming in October

The second-generation Samsung Smart Tracker passed NBTC and FCC certifications a few weeks ago. So it’s only a matter of time before it hits the market. According to UK retailer MobileFun, the Samsung SmartTag 2 is set for a start in October. There are even official-looking images in two colors – black and white.

According to reports, the Samsung SmartTag 2 supports UWB by default, so there will probably be no Plus version with an Ultra Wide Band modem this year. You can probably also locate the tracker using Google’s Find My Device function, which all Android phones support.

The model number of the new SmartTag is EI-T5600. There were initially rumors that the device would already be presented at the Samsung Unpacked event at the end of last month. However, the event was already packed with new hardware with the Galaxy Z Fold5, Z Flip5, Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic as well as the Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9+ and Tab S9 Ultra.

The new Samsung SmartTag 2 is less square and more oval than its predecessor. It also has a much larger key ring hole. Supposedly to make it easier to attach directly to a bunch of keys. In addition to UWB connectivity, the new Smart Tracker also has Bluetooth LE on board.
