Samsung has unveiled the latest version of its smartwatch operating system. Samsung One UI 5 Watch brings improvements and new features in three main areas – sleep tracking, fitness tracking and user security. The Sleep Insights UI, which provides a sleep score with specific readings on sleep phases, blood oxygen levels and hours of snoring, should ensure better sleep.
The right sleep coaching is now displayed directly on the Galaxy Watches and should help develop healthier sleeping habits. One UI 5 Watch can also communicate with SmartThings compatible devices to turn off connected devices when the Samsung smartwatch detects that you are sleeping.
The update also brings new fitness tracking features. This includes personalized heart rate zones for running, real-time running analysis and a customized interval training program. One UI 5 Watch devices also offer five workout intensity levels, including warm-up, fat burn, cardio, hard training, and max effort. Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro users can also search the GPX database directly in the Samsung Health app. There you get recommendations for new routes based on parameters such as location, time, rating or popularity.
One UI 5 Watch also offers an updated SOS function for direct communication with emergency services. In addition to the location of the user, medical information can also be forwarded. Fall detection is enabled by default for users age 55 and older.
Samsung will start rolling out the One UI 5 Watch Beta later this month for the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. However, initially only for users in the US and South Korea via the Samsung Members App. The upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 series will launch directly with One UI 5 Watch.
