Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6: First live images and Geekbench tests

Samsung could present a Galaxy Z Fold6, Fold6 FE and Z Fold6 Ultra at the event in July. And a Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Galaxy Ring.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6

Just yesterday, a picture leaked showing part of the back of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6. Today, a new picture of the entire front of the foldable has surfaced, conveniently directly in comparison to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold5. As was already clear from yesterday’s leak, the Fold6 will have a more angular design with less rounded corners. This follows the design language of the current flagship Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The bezels of the cover display seem to have become a little smaller, but you definitely can’t miss them. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 also seems to be a little less tall than its predecessor, but a little wider. This should benefit the aspect ratio of the cover display and make the front panel much more user-friendly in practice.

Galaxy Z Fold6 Geekbench tests

We’ve already seen some benchmark tests of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset at the helm. So far, this hasn’t been a big surprise, as it was the US model (SM-F956U). However, the Geekbench database now also contains a test result from a European device (SM-F956B) and it also had the Qualcomm chip on board.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 in the test had 12 GB of RAM, which should remain the base capacity. At the same time, it may remain the only version – there is no indication of a 16 GB model yet. However, the cheaper Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 FE, which has been rumoured for weeks, should also offer 12 GB RAM. Therefore, the flagship model or a potential Z Fold6 Ultra could also offer a 16 GB RAM option to differentiate itself from an FE, Slim or Lite model. In this case, a mix of different processors would also be conceivable – Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for the base model and the Ultra, Exynos 2400 for the Fan Edition or the Lite.

There is not much to say about the software. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 will launch with One UI 6.1 or possibly 6.1.1 based on Android 14. As with the Galaxy S24 series, 7 years of software support should also be included.

The results of the US and European Galaxy Z Fold6 devices should not be overestimated, by the way. These could be pre-release versions as well as tests in various modes such as Samsung’s Light Performance mode. The Galaxy Z Fold6 is expected to officially launch in July. Along with the Galaxy Z Flip6, which has a slightly larger battery than its predecessor. There will also be the Galaxy Watch7 series with the brand new Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Galaxy Ring.
