Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 teardown: Much easier to fix

Last year, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 received a below average repairability rating of 4/10 in PBKReviews disassembly video. How is the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 doing? Spoiler alert: With 7.5 out of 10 points significantly better.

A key reason for this improvement is that Samsung has used pull tabs for the two batteries this time. Last year, the batteries on the predecessor of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 were just stuck. The small battery in the upper half has a capacity of 1,000 mAh, while the one in the lower half has a capacity of 2,700 mAh.

Various other parts are also easier to swap out, but there are still some issues. This includes, for example, the 10 megapixel selfie camera, which is still glued on. Of course, this also makes repairs difficult. But at least replacing the foldable interior display has become easier.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 also features a completely redesigned hinge that allows the Samsung phone to fold without a gap and also folds the display differently. In initial tests, it has already proven to be much more durable than the panels of some competitors.
