With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series already in the rearview mirror, it’s time to turn our attention to the other big Samsung flagships of the year. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 have emerged in new leaks today. The source is once again the reliable tipster IceUniverse, who has revealed some preliminary technical data for the foldables.

The big news for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is the larger external display, which is said to be 3.4 inches diagonal. If true, it will actually be larger than the Oppo Find N2 Flip’s 3.26-inch panel. The aspect ratio is said to be 1:1.038 – a near-perfect square. The inner screen should have narrower bezels and use a new waterdrop hinge to hide its crease.

On the subject of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5, there was further confirmation that the 6.2-inch external display of the predecessor will remain on board. However, the Galaxy Z Fold5 should be 0.2 mm narrower than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4. Again, it uses a teardrop-shaped hinge like the Galaxy Z Flip5 to hide the crease and eliminate the gap when closed. The Galaxy Fold5 will be thinner than its predecessor at 13.xmm when folded, compared to 15.8mm for the Z Fold4. It will also be a lighter device at 254 grams. In addition, rumors have it that there will be no new main camera.

Both upcoming foldables will have Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipsets and are protected against water according to IPX8.
