Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5: Dummies also with gap

Today the first Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 mockups have surfaced, leaving little to nothing to the imagination.

Exactly two weeks ago we already saw a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 in a protective case. The new, larger cover display was revealed, but the design remained largely hidden. Today, on the other hand, the first Galaxy Z Flip5 dummies have appeared, leaving nothing to the imagination.

The leak also contains a short video, which shows a black version in addition to the white one. You can also see the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 both open and closed. Samsung’s upcoming foldables are said to use a new teardrop-shaped hinge to minimize the gap when closed. However, the dummy seen in the video still has a clear gap.

The new hinge should have an IP58 certification and thus be waterproof and at least protected against dust. You can’t expect complete protection against dust (IP6X), but penetrating dust should at least not cause any damage. Previous Galaxy Z phones were only waterproof (IPX8).

Apart from the larger cover display, not much has changed on the outside compared to the predecessor Galaxy Z Flip4. The volume rocker and the power button with integrated fingerprint sensor are on the right, a SIM slot is on the left and a USB-C port is on the bottom. The Z Flip5 is also said to support DeX, although it might only be the wireless version.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5, as well as the new Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Tab S9 will be launched on July 26th. According to one of the latest rumours, prices are set to rise significantly.
