Samsung has announced a partnership with Natural Cycles. Natural Cycles is known for its FDA approved birth control app. Together with Samsung they want to bring temperature-based cycle tracking to the Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro.


Samsung’s temperature sensor technology and Natural Cycles’ fertility technology give women a more detailed insight into their menstrual cycle. The smartwatch collects the data on the female cycle and the Samsung Health app provides the information for advanced cycle tracking.
In addition, the cycle tracking function has been approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of the Republic of Korea. Registration with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is also already in the can. And it meets the requirements for CE marking.
Temperature-based cycle tracking will be available on the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and the Pro model in 32 countries. These include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland , Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and the USA.
The new feature for Samsung smartwatches will be available from the second quarter of 2023. However, the Koreans did not give an exact date for the introduction.
