Last week, Samsung already released the One UI 5 Watch update for the Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro in South Korea. Now the new firmware for the smartwatches is also rolling through Europe. So far, however, only for the Bluetooth versions, but it should soon be the turn of the LTE versions, too.

The update has the firmware version R9xxXXU1BWH3 and a download size of about 1.7 GB. Accordingly, many new functions, changes and bug fixes are on board. If you have not yet received the One UI 5 Watch update on your Samsung Galaxy Watch5 or Galaxy Watch5 Pro, you can also check for it manually as usual. To do this, simply go to the Watch Settings > Watch Software Update menu on the Galaxy Watch home page in the Samsung Galaxy Wearable app.
Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic get Wear OS 4 update
Samsung announced the One UI 5 Watch interface back in early May, and about a week later Google made the Wear OS 4 platform official. Samsung’s latest Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic both launched last month with built-in Wear OS 4 and One UI 5 Watch. Today it is the turn of the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic from 2021.

The introduction has already started in the USA. The new build number is R870XXU1HWH3 for the Watch4 and R890XXU1HWH3 for the Watch4 Classic. The July 2023 security patch is also on board. The change log for the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic is also quite extensive. For example, you can now connect the Galaxy Watches to a new phone without resetting.
There are also other call controls. You can adjust the call volume, mute the sound and press buttons on the keypad – all from the Galaxy Watch4. Bixby can read notifications aloud and there’s support for app folders and gestures. In addition, you can check the battery status of the watch, smartphone or Galaxy Buds and much more.
Samsung Health is also getting new features with the new Samsung Galaxy Watch4 update. These include improved sleep coaching and automatic recording of training sessions. There’s customized exercise creation, more accurate results for distance runs, and personalized heart rate zones. As usual, the update will most likely be released in stages. Therefore, it may take a while for the new firmware to reach all available devices.
