Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, Watch X, Watch7 Ultra: New chip and better battery life

According to the latest report, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is in the starting blocks, also known as Galaxy Watch7 Pro or Watch7 Ultra.
Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra

Yesterday, a rumor surfaced that Samsung was working on a new smartwatch called Galaxy Watch X. The new wearable is said to be in direct competition with the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Another rumor previously referred to it as Galaxy Watch7 Ultra. Now it looks like it won’t have either of these names, instead Samsung has opted for Galaxy Watch Ultra. This was confirmed by a new certification with the TDRA authority, the relevant body in the United Arab Emirates.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra has the model number SM-L705F in the document and also has cellular connectivity in this variant. The FCC listing shows that it supports 10 watt charging. The smartwatch is said to be based on a matte squircle case design with a round 1.5-inch display and a rotating bezel. There are said to be three buttons on the right edge and a large speaker grille on the left edge.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra should be water resistant to 100m and have a battery life of 100 hours. That would be an insane leap forward for a smartwatch based on Google’s Wear OS operating system. So far, the best Samsung Galaxy Watch has been the Galaxy Watch5 Pro’s alleged 80 hours of battery life. The new Ultra will feature a battery with a nominal capacity of 578mAh or a typical capacity of 600mAh.

Powering it is the brand new Samsung Exynos W1000 chipset, which is based on Samsung’s second-generation 3nm node, the SF3. According to a report from Korea, the chip promises a major leap in performance. Efficiency should also improve over the 5nm W930 in the current Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic. Apple is also at the same technical level with the 5nm S9 processor in the Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2.

Three Samsung Galaxy Watch7 models

The reports so far strongly suggest that Samsung is preparing three new smartwatch models. It is still unclear whether this will be a normal model and a cheap Galaxy Watch FE in addition to the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. There are also persistent rumors about blood sugar monitoring and 32 GB of internal storage.

The Watch Ultra will officially be launched in July. The Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, the Galaxy Watch7 series, the Galaxy Watch FE / Galaxy Watch4 2024 and the Galaxy Ring tag along.
