Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 FE hits Geekbench

Back in September, Geekbench results were discovered from a Samsung tablet with model code SM-X506B and codename “Birdie”. Even then, speculation began that this would be the next Fan Edition tablet, what a tipster now confirms. Like its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S8 FE will also have native support for Wacom touchpens.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 FE will reportedly have an LCD display like its predecessor. However, the dimensions will probably increase compared to the normal Tab S8, which also uses an LCD panel. The Tab S8+ and Tab S8 Ultra have AMOLED displays.

According to the Geekbench test, the Galaxy Tab S8 FE ran on a MediaTek Kompanio 900T chipset, a 6nm chip with dual 2.4GHz Cortex-A78 cores (although the benchmark reports 2.6GHz), six 2.0 GHz A55 cores and a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. The processor is comparable to the Dimensity 900, including the integrated 5G modem.

The data matches the first report that the SM-X506B is the 5G version of the Galaxy Tab S8 FE. There will also be a Wi-Fi only version, which is expected to have the model number SM-X500. In the Geekbench test, the tablet ran Android 13, very likely including Samsung’s One UI 5 interface. The benchmark also shows 4 GB of RAM, which is also the base capacity of the Galaxy Tab S7 FE.

Prices are not yet known, but FE models are generally cheaper than the base Tab S of the respective generation. The Tab S7 FE, for example, cost around $100 less than the Galaxy Tab S7 at launch.
