The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will launch globally with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Only the base model and the Galaxy S24+ get Samsung’s Exynos 2400 processors, and only in some regions. The Ultra has already appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking service with a 3.3 GHz main core. But today a new version went through the tests, running at a higher clock speed.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra had the model code SM-S928U and appeared in the test with a 3.4 GHz prime core. The rest of the specs were the same – a triple-core cluster at 3.15 GHz, two cores at 2.96 GHz and two efficiency cores at 2.27 GHz. The test device also had 12 GB of RAM and Android 14 on board.

According to a new tweet from the usually well-informed tipster Ice Universe, the graphics chips will also get an upgrade. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has the new Adreno 750 GPU on board, which in the Galaxy version should run at a fast 1,000 MHz. For comparison: The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy in the Galaxy S23 series had an Adreno 740 with a maximum clock speed of 719 MHz. This would mean the new GPU would run 28% faster.

By the way, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Fold6 should also get the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 version.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series is scheduled to be launched on January 17th

Additionally, a new report today confirmed previous rumors that Samsung will indeed host the Galaxy S24 Unpacked event in the US in mid-January. The report by Korean broadcaster Biz SBS names January 17th as the specific date for the event. Ice Universe also had information about this, but tips January 18th. However, given the time zone differences between China and the USA, both sources could actually be right.

Samsung is reportedly hoping to launch the Galaxy S24 to boost its sales after semiconductor sales declined. Additionally, Samsung will launch the Galaxy S23 FE in South Korea on December 1st, priced at KRW 800,000 (€570/$611/INR 50,500). It is the first Galaxy S FE model to be sold in Samsung’s home market since 2020.
