Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Very bright display and large bezels

Rumor has it that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will switch to a flat display. That would be a first for the Ultra series, while the regular and Plus models have been coming out with flat panels for years. The normally reliable tipster Ice Universe has now unearthed the next strange display-related news.

The tipster says the maximum peak brightness of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will top out at over 2,200 nits. That’s a massive number – for comparison, the Galaxy S23 Ultra peaks at 1,750 nits, which is already extremely bright. However, the S24 Ultra would be in a different league if the rumor turned out to be true.

Now we come to the bad news, which the pictures above already indicate. According to Ice Universe, the bezels of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will be about the same size as those of the Galaxy A54, which would hardly befit a flagship phone. If you look closely, you can also see that they are only pairwise symmetrical. They are 3.42 mm on the left and right, and 3 mm on the top and bottom.

Technically, symmetrical edges are quite feasible. Apple has proven time and time again that it works. And not least because of the use of Samsung displays. Nothing has also just shown with the Phone (2) that complete frame symmetry can be achieved even at lower prices.

In addition, the screen-to-body ratio of the Galaxy S24 Ultra is also said to be 88%, which is also not very flagship-like. That would be the lowest value for a Samsung flagship since 2019’s Galaxy S10.
