The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra launched earlier this year with the well-known 10 megapixel 3x telephoto camera of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The technical data are exactly identical. A 10 megapixel resolution, aperture f/2.4, a focal length of 70 mm, a sensor size of 1/3.52 inch with 1.12 µm pixels as well as dual pixel PDAF and optical image stabilization are installed. Likewise, the second 10x telephoto and ultrawide camera have remained the same. The main camera has been upgraded to 200 megapixels. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is rumored to be replacing the 3x telephoto with a 5x camera next year. Reliable tipster Ice Universe has now expressed a different opinion.

Ice Universe also takes the view that the old 10 megapixel 3x camera needs to be retired. However, the tipster believes that Samsung will instead install a 50 megapixel 3x telephoto lens in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. That would be a significant improvement in terms of resolution compared to the 10 megapixel 3x telephoto lens. And should result in significantly better image quality.
On the other hand, there is agreement in the rumor mill that Samsung will use the same 200 megapixel sensor in the Galaxy S24 Ultra as under the main camera of the S23 Ultra. The 10x periscope will probably also get minor updates at best. What’s left is the 12 megapixel ultrawide camera, but so far there have been no leaks or reliable information.
Regarding the front camera, there are already rumors that Samsung will also use the 12 megapixel selfie camera from the S23 series in the S24 series. However, Samsung should continue to optimize the software to get better selfies and video calls.
