Samsung Galaxy S24 series: No selfie camera upgrade

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is rumored to replace the 3x telephoto camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra with a 5x telephoto camera next year. However, everything should remain the same with the selfie cameras. Allegedly, neither the S24 Ultra nor the entry-level or Plus models get a hardware upgrade in this area.

The news comes from the Dutch website GalaxyClub. According to the Dutch, Samsung will continue to use the 12-megapixel selfie camera from the S23 series in the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra. That doesn’t necessarily mean the S24 series won’t take better selfies, though. Samsung can still work on the front-facing camera’s image quality with better camera software.

The main camera of the flagship model, on the other hand, should not change and will remain with the 200 megapixel sensor of the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Another promising rumor came up recently. According to the tip, Samsung will finally increase the charging speed of the Galaxy S24+ and S24 Ultra batteries. Accordingly, thanks to the use of stacked batteries, it increases from 45 to 65 watts. It’s still significantly slower than, for example, various Xiaomi smartphones, but it’s finally the first upgrade for Samsung smartphones in several years. However, the S24 base model should only continue to charge with a slow 25 watts.
