The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra got a lot of praise for the Galaxy Note20 Ultra inspired design and curved display. The smartphone, which is quite large at 6.8 inches, looks much more compact thanks to the curves. Still, not everyone is a fan of curved sides. New renders show an alternative – the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with a flat display.
Flat Galaxy S23 Ultra could solve S Pen problem
The S Pen has been part of the scope of delivery for Samsung’s top models since last year. However, curved displays can make it difficult to use styluses, especially around the edges. This is mainly because the stylus usually slips off when it gets to the edges of the phone. A classic, flat display could solve these problems.
Some users have also complained that using a curved display distorts the illumination around the edges. Also, curved screens break more easily than flat screens because the edges usually stick out even when using a protective case.
In fact, there are already the first rumors on this subject. Well-known tipster Ahmed Qwaider has also suggested that the Galaxy S23 Ultra could get a flat display. Qwaider also provided the appropriate renderings. In fact, he reckons the Galaxy S23 Ultra won’t have such a sharp curve as the S22 Ultra. As for the color options, he taps black, green, cream, and lavender.
Storage starts at 256GB
In addition, Qwaider has also commented on possible configurations for the various models. Accordingly, Samsung will increase the basic storage capacity. The smallest S23 and S23+ version is said to have 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. 12 GB RAM, on the other hand, is only available for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. There is also 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB of storage.
Expandable memory will not be available in the S23 series either. The last model with a microSD slot was the Galaxy S21. Despite the credibility of the source, nothing is final. The official reveal of the Galaxy S23 series is on February 1st. The new Galaxy Book3 series is said to be presented at the event.
