Samsung started open sale of the Galaxy S23 series last week. The first update for the trio is now available. The new firmware isn’t too big and mainly includes security fixes that came out between the time the new Samsung phones were produced and when they were released. The Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra came out with the January security patch. After the update, the status changes to February 1, 2023. There are also 48 security improvements for Android 13 and seven for Samsung’s One UI interface.

The update has already been spotted on unlocked Galaxy S23 phones across Europe. However, it should also reach the other launch markets for the S23 series in the coming days. The base model is a good 516 MB in size, the Ultra firmware is a bit larger, but still under 600 MB.
Last year, Samsung changed the update schedule for its premium models, promising four major operating system updates and five years of security patches. The Galaxy S23 series also belongs in the flagship category, of course. Therefore, in addition to Android 17, regular security patches should arrive until 2028.
