Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 receives One UI 5.1.1 Beta with many new features

Samsung has launched the One UI 5.1.1 beta program for the Galaxy Z Fold4 in South Korea and the first beta build is already on the way. Various new features can be found in the change log. These include better previews in Recent Apps for split-screen, full-screen, or pop-up apps, switching directly from pop-up to a split screen, and moving pop-up apps off-screen.

You can also preview apps by navigating over their icons with the S Pen. The taskbar now shows up to four recently used apps, and the taskbar area will automatically adjust when showing seven or fewer icons. In addition, with the update, many more apps support the Flex Mode Panel and its Quick Share feature, even when the relevant contacts are not nearby. You can also set an expiration date for a shared file and unshare it at any time.

Samsung Health gets new sleep coaching features starting with the Galaxy Watch4. The interface has become simpler and more intuitive, and the Galaxy Watch5 also integrates skin temperature measurement while you sleep. The camera app gets some improvements for Pro mode in Flex mode. There are new selection functions, a new remaster preview, easier application of effects and the ability to copy and paste used colors and filters to other photos.

Drag and drop now works with both hands. You select elements with one hand and can then continue the gesture with the other hand. The whole thing works in “My files” and on the start screen. Other updates include RAM and storage management.

One UI 5.1.1 is expected to launch later this month alongside the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5. Older Galaxy Z Folds and Flips are expected to get the update in August or September. Samsung could have expanded the beta program to other countries by then.
