The major camera update of June 2023, which Samsung had already released for the Galaxy S23 series in Asian countries last week, is now also being introduced in Europe for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra. The new firmware has the version number S91xBXXU2AWF1 and a size of 2.2 GB. Therefore, you should probably use a WiFi connection for the download.

The update raises the Android security patch level to June 2023 on the Samsung Galaxy S23 trio, but more importantly for most users – it fixes camera autofocus issues. In addition, Samsung has revised the image processing in night mode and the portrait mode in the camera app of Samsung cell phones has finally got a 2x zoom option according to various rumours.

In addition, the June update brings smoother animations to Samsung’s One UI interface and improvements to haptic feedback. It should also fix the HDR issues that the camera app has struggled with in certain lighting conditions in the past.

If you live in Europe and don’t see the update on your Samsung Galaxy S23 yet, you can search for it manually as usual. To do this, simply start the manual search in the settings menu under Software update. Other regions should get the new firmware in the coming weeks. However, according to the well-known tipster Ice Universe, China and South Korea will receive a different version of the AWF1 firmware with further optimizations. Apart from that, One UI 6 based on Android 14 is already in the starting blocks.
