When the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE arrived in India in January 2022, there was an Exynos 2100 chipset under the hood and the base configuration of 8/128 GB cost ₹50,000 (€551/$605). Now Samsung has decided to relaunch the phone. This time, however, with a Snapdragon 888 chipset.
The new model is called “Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 2023” and has now appeared on internal training materials intended to prepare regional employees for the re-launch of the S21 FE. According to the pictures and technical data, however, apart from the chipset, not much has changed since 2022.
The new Fan Edition is further based on a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. There is a 12-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide cam and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with triple optical Zoom and a 32 megapixel selfie camera. The battery has a capacity of 4,500 mAh. It still supports wired charging with 25 watts and wireless charging with 15 watts.
A small change is indicated by the fact that the 8/128 GB model is no longer mentioned, but only 8/256 GB. The four color variants, navy blue, olive, graphite and lavender, on the other hand, are mostly well-known. Only navy blue replaces the old white option. The Android version is unfortunately not mentioned, as is the support window. The price of ₹50,000 can be seen on the last slide, just like the base model in early 2022. But since double the storage capacity is on board, it is technically a discount.
By the way, Samsung had already relaunched the Galaxy S20 FE 5G as “Galaxy S20 FE 2022” some time ago. Even then, the new version was only available in selected countries such as South Korea and Mexico. In this respect, history is repeating itself with the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE.
