Samsung began public beta testing of its next Android interface, One UI 6, which is already based on Android 14, last month. Not surprisingly, the rollout started with the Galaxy S23 series, the current flagships in the portfolio. Yesterday the Koreans released the Android 14 beta for the Galaxy S22 series. And today Android 14 followed immediately for the Samsung Galaxy S21 series, but initially only in South Korea.

The One UI 6 beta is available for carrier-locked devices (SKT, KT, LGU+) and unlocked models of the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra. If you want to try out the new firmware, you can sign up for the One UI 6 beta program using the Samsung Members app on your Samsung phone. Once the application has been accepted, the Android 14 beta update can be found in the “Settings” menu under “Software Update”.

It was the Samsung Galaxy S22 series’ turn yesterday. So far, the Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra are also only getting the Android 14 beta with One Ui 6 in South Korea. This is especially strange because mid-range cell phones like the Galaxy A54 and the Galaxy A34 are already taking part in the program. It will be interesting to see if Samsung maintains or changes the schedule for final, stable builds.

As usual with beta software, a word of warning: This is software that is still in development and may contain errors. Therefore, it is best not to install them on your primary device.
