The Samsung Unpacked event on February 1 is expected to set the stage for the upcoming Galaxy S23 smartphones. But the new Galaxy Book3 notebooks will also have their world premiere at the same event. At least two Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro models are in the starting blocks, along with a powerful Galaxy Book3 Ultra. Leaked specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro now show how serious the Koreans are with their attack on the Apple MacBook Air M2.

First of all, Samsung will increase the size of the AMOLED displays to 14 and 16 inches. The previous diagonals of the FullHD panels were 13.3 inches and 15.6 inches. However, this only affects the height of the panel and not the width. Therefore, the new WQXGA+ resolution is now distributed over a more square aspect ratio of 16:10. The weight remains at an extremely low 0.87 kg (1.92 lbs), just like the predecessor Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 13 (review). The exact dimensions are 30.44 x 19.98 x 1.12 cm, which is not that far from the Book2 Pro. Accordingly, Samsung has simply further reduced the lower frame of the Book3 Pro.
Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro with Intel Core i5-1340P
The Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro will have the latest chipset generation from Intel under the hood. For starters, this means the new Intel Core i5-1340P. However, Samsung will most likely also offer a configuration with the more powerful Core i7-1360P. Compared to the current MacBooks from Apple with the new M2 chipsets, the Koreans have hardly any other options. The Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 chipsets in the Galaxy Book2 Pro ARM version are extremely low power. In terms of performance, however, they are not yet a real alternative.
Other specs from today’s leak include 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and Windows 11 Home as the operating system. The refresh rate of the AMOLED displays is 120 Hz. When it comes to color options, you can choose between beige and graphite for the Galaxy Book3 Pro.
