The Samsung Galaxy A42 5G is already over two years old – time for the latest software update. According to initial reports, devices in Korea with the model number A426NKSU2DVK2 are currently receiving the new firmware. In addition to Android 13 and Samsung’s One UI 5 interface, the security patch from November 2022 is also included.

The introduction of the new user interface is in line with the previously announced rollout schedule, in which Samsung had promised updates for over 30 Galaxy devices by the end of the year. A further eight devices are due in early 2023.
The UI brings a redesigned lock screen with more customization options, smart widget suggestions, and some new features for the built-in Bixby voice assistant. In terms of security, Samsung has introduced a connected devices menu and privacy hub with security and privacy dashboards. This includes warning the user if they try to share photos of ID documents or bank cards.
