Anyone who is a fan of gaming smartphones but would like a much larger display could soon find what they are looking for at ZTE. The Chinese have introduced the first Red Magic tablet under their gaming sub-brand. Also on stage was the first Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 phone, the Red Magic 8S Pro.

The Red Magic Tablet has a 12.1-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1,600 x 2,500 pixels, a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz. The panel reaches a brightness of up to 600 nits and features thin, symmetrical bezels. In addition, the gaming tablet is only 6.5 mm thick at its thinnest point, which also contributes to the low weight of 613 grams. Quad speakers with DTS tuning are also on board.

It is powered by a fast Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset in combination with 12 or 16 GB RAM (LPDDR5X) and 256 or 512 GB UFS 3.1 storage. Since it is a gaming tablet, the ICE cooling system is installed like with the Red Magic 8S Pro. This should reduce the device temperature by up to 5 degrees even during intensive gaming sessions.

There is a 16-megapixel front camera and a single 13-megapixel main camera on the back. The battery is rated at 10,000mAh and supports 80W fast charging, which means a full charge takes just 55 minutes. The software side is covered by Red Magic OS 8.

The Red Magic Tablet starts at 3,899 CNY (€495/$538) for the 12/256GB variant. The 16/512GB version costs 4,599 CNY (€584/$635). Open sales in China will begin on July 11, while international availability is yet to be announced. Accessories include a Smart Magnetic Keyboard for CNY 599 (€76/$83) and a stylus pen for CNY 399 (€51/$55).
