Oppo Find X6 and Find X6 Pro unveiled

The Oppo Find X6 series is here, bringing upgrades across the board. This also includes what is possibly the most impressive camera setup currently available. The latter is in the new flagship Oppo Find X6 Pro.

Oppo Find X6 Pro

According to Oppo, the Find X6 Pro heralds the “three main camera era”. All three cameras on the back have the largest sensors in the smartphone world for the respective area of application. For the wide camera, that means the 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor combined with a 23mm f/1.8 lens. How well this chip works has already been proven in the Xiaomi 13 Pro and vivo X90 Pro+. The ultra-wide uses a 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX890 sensor, a focal length of 15mm and an aperture of f/2.2. Finally, there’s a periscope zoom with a 65mm equivalent focal length, the same 1/1.56-inch IMX890 sensor, and a bright f/2.6 aperture.

Oppo again developed the cameras together with Hasselblad. There is the Hasselblad Natural Color profile, the Hasselblad Pro mode and the classic XPAN mode for panoramic shots. There are also some gimmicks like a Hasselblad shutter sound and a Hasselblad watermark. The Hasselblad portrait mode can be used with the wide and telephoto cameras. Optionally, it outputs XCD30 photos (30mm, f/3.5, medium format lens) or XCD80 images (80mm, f/1.9, medium format lens). In addition, as is usual with newer Oppo cell phones, there is the in-house MariSilicon X image processor, which already took over the processing in the Find X5 Pro. It enables faster focusing and accuracy as well as a 42% image stabilization range for the periscope camera. According to Oppo, this is the current high in the industry.

All three cameras support deep fusion of uncompressed RAW image data for better clarity, shadow and highlight information. The Oppo Find X6 Pro has an improved 13-channel spectral sensor for detecting the ambient light conditions and adjusting the white balance accordingly.

Oppo Find X6 Pro with 2,500 nits bright display

Along with the software, the Find X6 Pro delivers a 6x hybrid zoom with the periscope lens. According to Oppo, this also applies to 4K videos, both with native 3x and 6x hybrid zoom. Dolby Vision 4K HDR is also on board. The ultrawide camera supports macro shooting from a distance of up to 4 cm with less than 1% aberration. Finally, the front camera features a 32-megapixel IMX709 sensor, unchanged from the Oppo Find X5 Pro. In front of it sits a wide 21mm lens with an aperture of f/2.4.

The rest of the hardware is also impressive. That includes a 6.82-inch AMOLED display with 3,168 x 1,440 pixels, an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. Oppo claims it’s the brightest panel in the world with a peak brightness of 2,500 nits. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 or 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The Find X6 Pro is powered by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 100W SuperVOOC wired charging (100% in 28 minutes) and 50W AirVOOC wireless charging (100% in 52 minutes). The battery is said to still deliver 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 charging cycles, which is double the industry standard.

The Oppo Find X6 Pro is available in brown, black and green with a material mix of metal, glass and vegan leather. Of course, it is waterproof and dustproof according to IP68.

Oppo Find X6

The regular Oppo Find X6 uses a Dimensity 9200 chipset and a 6.74-inch display with 2,772 x 1,240 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of 40 Hz to 120 Hz. The cameras also have a resolution of 50 megapixels each. However, the main camera is based on an IMX890 chip, just like the periscope telephoto camera. The ultra-wide is downgraded to the smaller JN1 sensor (1/2.76-inch) but is still capable of autofocus, offering macro shots from just 3cm away.

The Find X6 comes with a slightly smaller 4,800mAh battery with 80W of fast wired charging, but forgoes wireless charging. In addition, the protection class drops to IP64. Both smartphones come with Android 13 and ColorOS 13.1.

Prices

The really sad news is that the Oppo Find X6 series will only be available in China. The Oppo Find X6 Pro costs 5,999 CNY (€810/$873) for the 12/256GB model, 6,499 CNY (880€/$946) for 16/256GB and 6,999 CNY (950€/$1,019) for the top model with 16/512 GB.
