According to a new rumor from credible sources, OnePlus wants to enter the Android tablet market. The company has registered the patent for the name “OnePlus Pad”. Tipster Max Jambor revealed on Twitter that the tablet is scheduled to debut next year.

OnePlus’ entry into the tablet space comes as no great surprise. The portfolio used to be more focused on flagship killers, but today devices are offered in various price categories. Entering the tablet market is the next logical step for a company that also offers wearables like smartwatches and TWS headphones.
The big question is whether the upcoming OnePlus Pad will be an entirely new device or a rebranded Oppo tablet. The Oppo Pad with a Snapdragon 870 chipset and an 8,360 mAh battery is still a competitive device. Nevertheless, a completely new tablet would be much more exciting.
