On the day that Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy Watch6 series and Galaxy Tab S9 series, OnePlus also had something to report. Namely for the upcoming OnePlus Open. However, the Chinese did so quietly with the tweet that can be read below – “We OPEN when others FOLD”.
This pretty much confirms the name of OnePlus’ first foldable smartphone. It will be called OnePlus Open, as recent rumors have also suggested. But since “Fold” is also mentioned, it’s safe to assume that the new OnePlus smartphone will compete head-to-head with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and not the Flip5.

The OnePlus Open is expected to be officially unveiled at an event in New York at the end of August. Some leaked CAD renders have already given a good impression of the design. Interestingly, it seems to look exactly like the upcoming Oppo Find N3 looked like on a recent sketch. Therefore, the OnePlus Open could become the international version of the Find N3, which is expected to remain exclusive to the Chinese market again.
According to previous leaks and rumors, the OnePlus Open will feature a 6.3-inch AMOLED cover display with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. There’s also a 20-megapixel selfie camera in a punchhole. The 7.8-inch LTPO main display has a resolution of 1,900 x 2,100 pixels and also refreshes at 120 Hz. The inner selfie camera is said to have a resolution of 32 megapixels.
Flagship camera setup
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset sits at the helm in combination with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The main and ultrawide cameras are rumored to be identical to those on the OnePlus 11. There is also a 64 megapixel telephoto camera. The battery should have a capacity of 4,800 mAh and charge with 67 watts.
