OnePlus Nord CE4 with SD 7 Gen 3 chip and 5,500 mAh battery is here

The OnePlus Nord CE4 is here, bringing with it a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset and expandable storage up to 1TB.
OnePlus Nord CE4

The OnePlus Nord CE3 brought a larger, better display, a larger, faster battery, a larger main camera sensor and a faster chipset. The most important upgrade to the new OnePlus Nord CE4 is the chipset – a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. This chip has a significantly faster GPU compared to the 7 Gen 2 and should deliver almost twice the performance of the old 782G GPU. Additionally, since the chip runs on a more modern 4nm node, it is also more efficient.

Accompanying the chipset is 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, but there is no 12GB option this time. The storage is 128 or 256 GB UFS 3.1 and is expandable via the microSD slot (with cards up to 1 TB). You can also activate an additional 8 GB of virtual RAM on the OnePlus Nord CE4. Like its predecessor, a 6.7-inch OLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a slightly higher aspect ratio of 20:9 is installed. The display runs at 120 Hz and features 10-bit colors with HDR10+ and Amazon Prime Video HDR support.

The Nord CE4 also has a larger battery. Together with the 12R, it has the largest capacity of a OnePlus phone on board – 5,500 mAh, which charges at a fast 100 watts. The predecessor needed 31 minutes for a full charge. The CE4 does this in 29 minutes, although it has to charge 500 mAh more. According to OnePlus, the Battery Health Engine also extends the battery life to four years. The 100 watt SuperVOOC charger is included.

New main camera sensor

One of the CE3’s upgrades mentioned was the 50-megapixel main camera with a fairly large 1/1.56-inch IMX890 sensor (versus the 64MP 1/1.97-inch sensor on the CE2). The OnePlus Nord CE4 switches to another Sony sensor, the LYT-600. It also has a resolution of 50 megapixels, but a smaller sensor at 1/1.95 inch. But it also has OIS. The 8 megapixel ultrawide camera sticks with the Sony IMX355 sensor.

OnePlus promises that new image processing algorithms will improve the image quality of all cameras, including the 16-megapixel selfie camera. The Nord CE4 also features Portrait Mode 2.0. Video recording remains at 4K at 30 frames per second. There’s also 1080p at 60fps and a slow motion mode at 120 frames per second.

The OnePlus phone has interior padding and has been tested to survive 1.5m drops on marble. For the first time, a CE model also has an official protection class – only IP54, but better than nothing. The display can also recognize touches even when wet – the so-called Aqua Touch function of the OnePlus 12 series. You get two major operating system updates and a total of three years of security patches, just like the CE3.
