According to OnePlus boss Pete Lau himself, the first foldable OnePlus smartphone will be launched in the third quarter of this year. Now a new rumor from a generally reliable source goes into some more detail. The unveiling is expected to take place in New York in the first half of August. That means it’ll be announced just a week or two after Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5. Because according to the latest rumors, the Korean company’s next Unpacked event is scheduled to take place on July 26th.

In addition, the OnePlus Fold is to be launched worldwide. Or to put it another way, in the markets in which OnePlus is currently active. In addition to China, this also includes the USA, India and Europe. Interestingly, Oppo is also expected to launch its Find N3 in China in August. And according to previous rumours, the OnePlus Fold could become the international version of the Find N3. If this theory is correct, we can expect a foldable 8-inch main display with QHD+ resolution and a 6.5-inch cover display with FHD+. Both panels have a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
A Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset in combination with up to 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512 GB UFS 4.0 storage should take over the drive. The OnePlus Fold is expected to still run Android 13 with OxygenOS 13.1, as Android 14 won’t be released until just over a month later with the Google Pixel 8 series.
Also, the specs include a 4,800mAh battery with support for 80W fast wired charging. The main camera has a resolution of 50 megapixels and features optical image stabilization. We also get a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 32-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, and two 32-megapixel selfie cameras.
