OnePlus Buds Pro 2 Lite: Cheaper than Pro, similar features

The OnePlus Ace 2V was the big star of today’s event, but the company also introduced a new pair of TWS earbuds – the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 Lite. Pre-orders in China are already open and priced at 750 CNY (€102/$108) and will rise to 800 CNY (€109/$115) when regular sales begin on March 13 at 10:00 local time. That’s a little cheaper than the original Buds Pro 2, which launched in January for 900 CNY.

The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 Lite look just like the original Pro. However, the white color option is new and the green one is no longer available. The buds are IP55 rated, so they can withstand rain and sweat. Active noise cancellation is also on board and blocks out outside noise by up to 48 dB, just like the normal Pros. There are three microphones on each OnePlus bud, which can also be used for noise cancellation during calls.

The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 Lite are designed for Hi-Res Audio Wireless Streaming and feature audio tuning by Dynaudio and the legendary Hans Zimmer. For gaming, the Buds have a special 54ms low latency mode. Battery life is the same too – the 60mAh in each earbud last for 9 hours of uninterrupted playback, while the 520mAh in the charging case brings the total listening time to 39 hours. However, these numbers apply with ANC disabled. With active noise cancellation, continuous listening time drops to 6 hours and total listening time to 25 hours.

The connectivity is also basically the same as the original model. The Buds Pro 2 Lite support the LHDC 5.0 codec, which delivers up to 1 Mbit/s bandwidth. The original Buds 2 Pro started with v4.0, but are set to receive LHDC 5.0 as an update. What’s missing is support for Qi wireless charging and head tracking. However, spatial audio is still supported.

Now, if you’re wondering if the OnePlus Buds 2 Pro Lite will be available worldwide, we’re wondering the same thing. There hasn’t been any official information about this yet. However, the original Pros have dropped in price since launch, so the difference is now close to zero.
