OnePlus Buds 2 Pro unveiled in China

OnePlus held a major event in China today, where the Chinese unveiled the new flagship OnePlus 11. But that wasn’t the only new hardware at the event. The new OnePlus Buds Pro 2 wireless earphones also took the stage with improved noise cancellation, Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio and sound tuning by Dynaudio.

The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 are the successor to last year’s Buds Pro. They offer the same basic design with a two-tone finish on the buds and a matte charging case. The 11 mm dynamic speakers and the 6 mm planar cone drivers are also identical. The earphones support Bluetooth 5.3 and ANC (active noise cancellation), which can suppress up to 48 dB of external noise. There are three microphones on each earphone for optimal voice pickup and noise cancellation.

The Buds Pro 2 support the AAC, SBC and LC3 codecs. OnePlus plans to add support for the LHDC 5.0 audio codec for high-resolution audio streaming via Bluetooth with a software update. There is a 54ms low latency mode for gaming and some exclusive features for ColorOS 11 devices. This includes postural and cervical spine pressure monitoring. New Oppo and OnePlus smartphones will also support connections to two devices at the same time and easy switching between devices.

According to OnePlus, the Buds Pro 2 last up to 39 hours with the ANC switched off and including the charging case. The case can be charged wirelessly via any Qi charger or via USB-C. The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 are available in black and green colors and cost 899 CNY ($131) in China. Open sale begins in the Far East on January 9th. International availability and pricing details will be announced on February 7th.
