The OnePlus 12 is expected to launch in December with three cameras. The first rumors around a month ago suggested a combination of a 50 megapixel main camera, a 50 megapixel ultra-wide and a 64 megapixel telephoto lens. Today, well-known tipster Digital Chat Station announced further technical data.

According to DCS, the OnePlus 12’s ultrawide camera actually has a 48-megapixel sensor with a 1/2-inch size and an f/2.2 aperture. The zoom camera has a resolution of 64 megapixels on an OmniVision OV64B sensor with OIS. And the new main sensor will be a – surprise – Sony IMX966 with 50 megapixels.

According to previous reports from the same source, the new Sony sensor will be equivalent in performance to the 1-inch flagship Sony IMX989 chip. Sony compensates for its smaller size with a structure made up of two layers (double stack). This significantly improves light sensitivity. Optical image stabilization is of course also on board the upcoming OnePlus flagship.

In addition, the IMX966 in the OnePlus 12 should also benefit from the capabilities of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in the area of computer photography. The same applies to the 64 megapixel telephoto camera with triple optical zoom. Because there is great potential in terms of performance in poor lighting conditions, especially in the telephoto range. According to reports, the OnePlus 12 will launch in China in December. The global launch is expected in early 2024.
