Samsung’s flagship tablets are currently receiving the stable One UI 5 update based on Android 13. 5G-enabled devices come first in Europe. The update also includes the November 2022 security patch with almost 50 privacy and bug fixes. The regular Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 gets firmware version X706BXXU2BVK4 and the Galaxy Tab S8+ gets version X806BXXU2BVK4. Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is updated to firmware X906BXXU2BVK4.

Among the most important improvements is a revised user interface. There are also more colors on board for the color palette feature, Samsung’s take on Google’s Material You design. The OCR (optical character recognition) function is also on board and extracts text from images.
Modes & Routines have been renamed to Bixby Routines. This allows you to set different routines and actions for different accounts and entries. One UI 5 also brings new emojis of all kinds – animated, AR, as well as light blue and pink hearts, included in Emoji 15.0 update from The Unicode Consortium.
