ZTE today introduced the newest member of its gaming brand – the nubia Z50S Pro is here. In addition to the chipset and ultimately the gaming performance, the focus during development was clearly on the camera setup. The star of the show is the 35mm lens of the 50 megapixel main camera, a nubia trademark. It is a 1G+6P lens with a large aperture of f/1.59, optical image stabilization and a large 1/1.49 inch sensor.

The ultra-wide camera also resolves 50 megapixels through a 13 mm lens with a 125-degree field of view and an f/2.0 aperture. The ultrawide doubles as a macro camera as it can focus down to just 2.5cm. For the zoom range, the nubia Z50S Pro also has an 80 mm telephoto lens with an aperture of f/2.4, a 16 megapixel sensor and also OIS on board.

The 6.78-inch AMOLED display of the Nubia Z50S Pro has a resolution of 1260×2800 pixels (452 ppi, 20:9). This is a 10-bit panel with 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. It supports both DC dimming and 2160Hz high frequency PWM dimming. It’s not geared towards mobile gaming as much as nubia’s Red Magic series. With a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a 1,000 Hz touch sampling rate, there is nothing to be said against it either. You can still rely on 720 Hz sampling for multi-touch tracking of multiple fingers.
nubia Z50S Pro second Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 phone
It is powered by the brand new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 chipset. This makes the Z50S Pro only the second smartphone after the Red Magic 8S Pro with the currently fastest mobile processor. The new version has a faster 3.36 GHz prime core and a more powerful GPU. In addition, both components are cooled by a very large 4,233 mm² vapor chamber.
The 5,100 mAh battery supports 80 watts of fast charging and, according to ZTE, should last a little over 37 hours with moderate use. In power saving mode, a battery level of just 5% is enough for 6 hours of standby or a 30-minute call via WeChat.
The nubia Z50S Pro is available for pre-order today in China via ZTE’s website. The open sale begins July 27 (next Thursday). Multiple versions are available with 12/256GB for 3,700 CNY ($515/€460/₹42,250), 12GB/1TB and 16GB/1TB. The white version is slightly more expensive than the other variants at 100 CNY extra.
