Nothing Ear (a)

The latest earphones from Nothing are available in two versions and price ranges: the Nothing Ear (a) for €99/$99/£99 and the Nothing Ear for €149/$149/£129. The Nothing Ear are the new top model and the direct successor to last year’s Ear (2). The Ear (a) are the cheaper entry-level model. Nothing also announced ChatGPT integration for the new earbuds. You can easily call up the AI assistant with a pinch gesture.

Nothing Ear

The Nothing Ear features new dynamic 11mm speakers with a ceramic diaphragm for richer and crisper highs. There are also two additional vents to improve air circulation and provide clearer sound. Nothing features LHDC 5.0 and LDAC codec support for high bitrate streaming, as well as an improved Smart ANC algorithm. The latter automatically searches for noise leaks and adjusts the active noise cancellation accordingly.

Nothing also offers more sound control with an Advanced Equalizer option in the Nothing X Companion app. Once you have found your perfect settings, you can share them with friends. Nothing has also installed new microphones with Clear Voice technology for better voice pickup and clearer calls.

The battery life is 8.5 hours with without ANC, 5.2 hours with ANC and 40.5 hours with the charging case. Wired charging via USB-C is supported, as is wireless charging with up to 2.5 watts on compatible Qi chargers. The Noting Ear are available in black and white. Pre-orders begin today, while the open sale is scheduled for April 22nd.

Nothing Ear (a)

The Nothing Ear (a) retains most of the key features of the more expensive model. These include the 11mm dynamic speakers, ANC and LDAC support. The Ear (a) have a slightly modified design with a rectangular housing and, in addition to the white and black versions, are also available in bright yellow.

The rest of the specifications are the same as the more expensive Nothing Ear except for the custom EQs and the fancier ceramic membrane. The battery life is 9.5 hours without ANC and 5.5 hours with and up to 42.5 hours including the charging case. However, the (a) version only charges via USB-C cable.
