Nothing Ear (2) with LHDC 5.0 codec and IP54 protection

Carl Pei, CEO and founder of Nothing, spoke extensively about the Nothing Phone (1) und die Ear (1) earbuds in an interview with Forbes. In addition, the upcoming Nothing Ear (2) were a topic on which Pei revealed some new details. The new headphones support the LHDC 5.0 codec (Low Latency HD Audio Codec), which allows matching Hi-Res audio tracks to be played at full bitrate. Audio also arrives in higher quality via Bluetooth. As a result, Pei says he contacted Spotify to update their library to LHDC.

In addition, the Nothing Ear (2) will have an IP54 rating, which guarantees limited protection against dust and water. Of the 600,000 Nothing Ear (1) sold, a third were sold in the United States. That’s why Pei also wants to sell the upcoming Nothing Phone (2) in the US. Pei believes that 2023 will be “a really big opportunity for the company”.

In order for this to work, further investments are made. The team working on the Nothing Ear (2) has grown by 30% and now has 700 people. The new earphones underwent testing on over 120 cell phones and notebooks, a 52% increase over the 70 devices testing the Ear (1).

The Nothing Ear (2) are scheduled to arrive on March 22nd. The event will be broadcast live on the internet.
