Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 gets a larger external display

Last August, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 (review) came onto the market with a 1.9-inch cover display. According to Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, the external display of the Galaxy Z Flip5 will be significantly larger than 3 inches. While Ross didn’t provide an exact size, reliable tipster Ice Universe has confirmed Young’s claims. According to Ice Universe, the display of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 will be even larger than that of the Oppo Find N2 Flip, which is already 3.26 inches.

In addition, according to Young, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 will have a different hinge design to “reduce the visibility of the seam”. The Oppo Find N2 Flip made its international debut last week, becoming the first Oppo foldabe to launch outside of China. It is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset and a 4,300 mAh battery with 44 watt wired charging. The display is 6.8 inches, has a FullHD+ resolution and offers a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 will not get an S Pen slot

Despite some rumors to the contrary, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 will not have an integrated S Pen slot. According to the latest report from South Korea, such considerations were indeed made during the design phase of the Samsung smartphone. However, Samsung decided that the foldable would be too thick.

But the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 will reportedly get a new hinge design with a smaller crease. Also, the internal components are arranged differently, so there is no room for an S Pen slot. Samsung was reportedly thinking about designing a slimmer stylus specifically for the Galaxy Z Fold5. However, the Koreans were not satisfied with the writing experience. However, this plan is said to have only been postponed. Samsung is reportedly actually working on a thinner stylus for the Galaxy Z Fold6.
